Background:
Temple University (TU) is a public research university in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. TU's Fox School of Business and Management has a distinguished tradition of preparing business leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs for successful careers. It is the largest, most comprehensive business school in the greater Philadelphia region, and one of the largest in the world with over 6,500 full-time students.
Program Outline:
TU presently offers business education programs, including Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA), Master of Business Administration, and other specialized master's degree programs, at locations in Pennsylvania, USA; Tokyo, Japan; and other locations.
TU, through the Fox School of Business and Management, and USTC desire to work together in delivering an Executive MBA Program, which will include advanced coursework and co-curricular activities delivered both in China as well as the Fox facilities in Pennsylvania, USA, and issuance of a degree by TU's Fox School of Business and Management.
The EMBA Partnership Program initially will be comprised of the sixteen (16) courses of 3-credits each, totaling forty-eight (48) credits. Eight (8) of the courses will be taught at Temple/Fox's facilities in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, exclusively in English by instructors provided by Temple/Fox and Eight (8) of the courses will be taught by USTC, exclusively in English by instructors provided by USTC.
Each 3.0 credit course delivered through USTC, will be taught face-to-face over three consecutive days, with two online sessions pre and post (2 hrs. each), and supplemental pre-recorded material, which will be delivered to the students prior to the start of each course. Sessions each month will account for the following contact hours, totaling 37.5 as prescribed for a 3.0 credit-hour course:
1. Supplemental material – 9.5 hours
2. Pre-Session WebEx (online) – 2 hours
3. Friday (face-to-face) — 8 hours
4. Saturday (face-to-face) — 8 hours
5. Sunday (face-to-face) — 8 hours
6. Post-Session WebEx (online) – 2 hours
Admissions:
Applicants to the EMBA Partnership Program must complete and/or submit the following elements for a completed application:
1. Temple's online application form, inEnglish
2. Official transcripts of undergraduate degree, in English (certified translation acceptable) indicating a minimum 3.0grade point average on a 4.0 grading scale
a. Additional management experience beyond five years may be considered if the grade point average is below 3.0, in the sole discretion of Fox
3. If the language of instruction for the undergraduate degree was not English, TOEFL or IELTS scores pursuant to the Fox School's minimum required scores:
a. TOEFL: 100 (internet based) or 250 (computer based) or 600 (paper based)
b. IELTS: 7.0
4. Applicants with fewer than 7 years of professional experience are required to submit GMAT scores.
a. Applicants with 7 – 10 years of professional experience may be eligible for a GMAT waiver if
i. Applicant graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from an accredited institution; and
ii. Work experience demonstrates growth.
b. Applicants with 10+ years of professional experience may be eligible for a GMAT waiver if
i. Applicant graduated from an accredited institution; and
ii. Work experience demonstrates growth.
c. Candidates who have a terminal degree (JD,MD, PhD, etc.) are not required to take the GMAT regardless of their years of work experience.
5. Two (2) letters of recommendation, in English;
6. Professional statement, in English;
7. Resume, in English;
8. Proof of a minimum of 5 years of work experience, preferably in a management capacity;
9. Personal interview with representative of USTC, conducted in English when deemed appropriate;
10. Personal interview with representative of Fox, conducted in English, through Skype or other online platform
Tuition and Finances:
Tuition for the EMBA Partnership Program will be $70,000 USD, paid directly to Temple/Fox. Students will be required to pay tuition, generally before the beginning of each semester,in February and September. In mutual agreement, Temple/Fox reserves the right to increase tuition fees as desired. Students will cover their transportation, hotel, and other expenses to support their immersion trips to Philadelphia.
