Background:
The Asia School of Business is a partnership between MIT's Sloan School of Management and Bank Negara Malaysia with the goal of creating a business school offering business administration related courses in the form of a 20-month full-time MBA program and executive education classes for students from Malaysia and around the world.
Program Overview:
USTC and ASB have partnered up to establish this exchange program. For the first three years of this program, each institution will send up to five students to the other institution and receive five from the other side in a student exchange. After the first three years, there may be up to ten students from each side selected to participate in this exchange.
Timeline:
Students on exchange must be at the hosting institution for at least three months, but not exceeding twelve months. The exact time will be determined by either side's home institution, but exchanges will typically happen for one academic semester or a summer term.
Study Options:
As USTC students going to ASB, students may choose to participate in a local faculty research project. In lieu of a faculty research option, students from USTC may elect to enrol in the academic program offered to ASB MBA students for one semester. The academic program involves participation in classes alongside ASB students, as well as full participation in a team-based action learning project with one of ASB's corporate or institutional partners.
Am I Qualified?
USTC faculty will determine whether a student has shown outstanding performance during their time at USTC and will nominate students accordingly. However, there are also certain eligibility requirements one must meet:
· High TOEFL/IELTS score
· Student visa
The host institution will determine what level of English competency is required but for most students from China, avisa will be required for projects with corporate partners in neighbouring countries.
Tuition and Fees:
Tuition will be determined by ASB. Students can expect to pay full ASB tuition for the duration of their exchange. Students may apply for any scholarship or financial aid available to them to support the exchange.
Travel fees and accommodation costs will be paid by the student. ASB will help locate accommodation but rent or room and board will not be covered by tuition.
